Decided to try modelling a car, like a Pontiac LeMans (famous from movies and what not):

Rough body render:

Finished modelling much of body, with windows and wheels. Missing number plates, door handles, … most details. Interior. More of everything.

Wasting time. Should be working.

Finally learned the basics of lighting using radiosity (using objects as lights). Pretty cool. Also learned how to fake water using displacement maps

Modeling as much as possible

Not much time for modeling lately, due to a large work load. Did get some things done during Christmas, though.

This is a template for quickly making humanoid units (humans wearing various armor / clothes, androids, etc). Just made a 5-min armor by blowing up some pieces of the template and coloring them differently (didn’t bother shaping a helmet/mask).

It’s a dropship and an early version of the humanoid template (wearing helmet and jet-pack) is jumping out of the back

I started playing with the tablet, just making silly little drawings of things that might end up in the game. I’ll use this to illustrate things that me or Erik will later make in Blender, and to quickly draw an idea for a story element to see if it will work.

An example of a storyboard page, where the acutal scenes are totally arbitrary. They are also the first I've ever drawn (tablet or otherwise) so they look pretty horrible

In line with the current planet-theme: Made weird world (moon?) by way of Blender World Forge. What a tool. Makes you feel all-powerfull.

On the slightly more serious side: Made a great-looking earth-like planet, which I'm naming after a lovely old game: Terra Nova. It even has an okay-ish (from a distance) atmosphere, which is just a cloud-material with alpha and some other parameter tweaks. Very simple, and presumably fast. Might texture-paint the ground so that not all of it is green

Working on many small things lately, just trying to improve those Blender skillz. Like, planets. Also humanoid creatures, but I'll get back to that.

I just got my small Wacom Intuos4 tablet, which I’ll probably use for planning scenes, conceptual art, etc. Right now Hanne-Torill has taken possesion of it, though Look, it’s sooo cute:

Currently thinking about which level of epicness to put this game at. It would definitely be less work and less over-ambitious to create something with a minimum of dialogue, for instance… Might make it a zombie game, where the simple goal of the game is to escape the zombies like Erik is doing, possibly exterminating them in the process. Zombies don’t talk much (lots of grunting), so no complicating dialogue options to exhaust me and confuse the player.

Sitting in a hotel lobby in Nürnberg. Those blood suckers want 8 euros per hour for the wifi advertised as "hi-speed" and "available in the room". By available I assumed they meant as in free of charge, but nooo. Any way, turns out that volumetric lighting is idiot simple in Blender. Just bring your own scary scene to be lighted.
